Paddle Pickler began as a spark of passion in 2024 when Sid Edmondson, Marlys Coon, and Fermin Mize started sharing their pickleball experiences on various forums and social media platforms. Their commitment to the sport turned into a personal mission for Sid after a disheartening incident where his brother was misled by inaccurate reviews, leading him to buy equipment that was completely unsuitable and a waste of money. This frustrating experience highlighted a significant need in the market: reliable and honest equipment reviews were scarce, and comprehensive resources for newcomers to the sport were even rarer.
Motivated by this gap, Sid, Marlys, and Fermin envisioned a platform that would serve as a cornerstone of the pickleball community — a place where newcomers could learn everything from the basic rules of the game to strategies for improvement and advice on selecting the best equipment tailored to their needs. They began by crafting detailed, unbiased reviews from Sid’s garage in Tampa, Florida, meticulously testing each paddle under various conditions and detailing its strengths and weaknesses to help their growing audience make well-informed decisions.
The positive feedback was swift and enthusiastic. Players appreciated the clarity and depth of the information, which was often lacking elsewhere. Encouraged by this response, the trio expanded their informal platform by late 2020 to include not just reviews but also educational content aimed at demystifying the sport for beginners. Topics covered ranged from simple explanations of pickleball rules to comprehensive guides on choosing the right equipment.
A significant turning point occurred when Fermin shared her personal pickleball journey on social media, triggering a flood of inquiries about game rules and effective playing techniques. This overwhelming interest underscored the potential impact they could have. Realizing this, Sid, Marlys, and Fermin decided to formalize their efforts by creating a dedicated educational platform.
After years of preparation and community engagement, Paddle Pickler was officially launched as a full-service educational portal in 2024. Today, Paddle Pickler is a thriving hub where players of all skill levels can access a wealth of resources designed to elevate their game. The platform stays true to the principles of integrity and quality that its founders established, continually striving to be the most trusted resource for the entire pickleball community.
